Featured Sorrento Wedding - Sophisticated Weddings - Cloister of San Francesco & Villa Antiche Mura

Harriet and Rob were married on a very hot and sunny September day in Sorrento surrounded by a large number of family and friends who had all made the trip to Italy.

Their ceremony took place in the incredibly romantic Cloisters of San Francesco in the centre of Sorrento, with the bride arriving in style in a convertible vintage red Fiat 500. Harriet says:

Rob, my now husband, suggested Sorrento, Italy for our destination wedding and as soon as I saw the Cloisters I knew it was the place! We booked to visit two years before we got married and went to see Villa Antiche Mura recommended by our wedding planner, Victoria at Sophisticated Weddings. We fell in love with it straight away - as did our guests later on!

Harriet wore a beautiful vintage styled dress by Essence of Australia, chosen from Laura May Boutique in Cardiff. She had always admired Kate Moss’ style and wanted something effortless with a bohemian vibe. Her best friend and maid of honour took care of hair styling for the bridal party and Jimena Puy was chosen as her make up artist.

Victoria coordinated the floral design with local florist Giovanni Castellano and Giovanni delivered a spectacular bouquet for the bride and bridesmaids, exactly as pictured by Harriet.

I saw a post on Pinterest that I liked with lilac and pink flowers and I thought this would compliment the bridesmaids dresses perfectly. Giovanni was fantastic at making this image a reality. My beautiful bouquet looked like it had been picked from a meadow.

Following their romantic Italian civil wedding ceremony, celebrated and translated by Carmela Cesarano, the couple enjoyed some 1-1 time with their photographer Rachel Lambert, whilst their guests were transported over to their reception venue.

The reception was held at the stunning Villa Antiche Mura, an elegant villa situated in a cliff top position and offering stunning views of the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius from its spacious terraces.

On arrival at Villa Antiche Mura guests were greeted with canapés and welcome drinks and were wowed by the spectacular views from the White Infinity Terrace. Post aperitif the bridal party and guests moved to the Red Infinity Terrace, seated under a ceiling of beautiful drapes and fairy lights, where they enjoyed an incredible banquet of local Italian speciality dishes.

The party continued into the late evening with the cutting of the cake, drinks and dancing to a great mix of music played by the DJ.

To other brides, I would say that the most important thing to remember throughout the process is not to stress too much! Be flexible and negotiate on things if you can. Your wedding should be enjoyable. We loved every minute of ours! And if you want to get married in Sorrento or the Amalfi Coast, definitely get in touch with Victoria, she is literally a diamond!
