  1. Head straight to Piazza Tasso and have an Aperol Spritz at Fauno Bar to kick start your celebrations

Piazzo Tasso is the main square in the very heart of Sorrento and has many small streets heading off the square in all directions.  There are plenty of bars and restaurants where you can relax with a coffee or an early evening aperitif. Fauno Bar is the largest bar on the square and has outdoor seating offering the perfect position for you to pass some time people watching, take in the hum of the scooters and tourists passing by.

  2. Stroll down the narrow historical streets of Sorrento and do some souvenir shopping

The Centro Storico is situated just off the square and the first thing you’ll notice is the scent of real leather and fresh lemons as you weave your way down these little lanes taking in all of the charming goods on offer. Head to Mary’s shop and grab yourself a real leather Made in Italy handbag from a gorgeous selection or a new belt at a great price. The old town offers a very charming ambience and is a truly Italian experience with many locals buzzing around as well as tourist visitors. With Sorrento being famous for its’ lemons be sure to sample some of the amazing lemon treats on offer like fresh lemon granita, lemon sweets, limoncello or grab yourself a lemon scented soap or lemon decorated ceramic plate. The limoncello sweets or mini bottles also make for great wedding favours.

  3. Eat an authentic Neapolitan pizza

Nothing beats a real Neapolitan pizza and there are some incredible restaurants and pizzerias in Sorrento. Head to Ristorante Pizzeria Da Gigino on Via Degli Archi for a warm welcome and more than 18 different varieties of pizza to sample! Delicious!

  4. Sample the famous Limoncello

Limoncello is a very famous Italian liqueur that comes from the Sorrento region and is made from the zest of fresh Sorrento lemons, sugar, water and of course alcohol. It is usually consumed after dinner (as a digestivo) but is a perfect drink for every occasion. Try the creamy variety as well as the normal or for a longer drink try a limoncello spritz as an alternative to Aperol.

  5. Eat ice-cream

There are some amazing ice-cream parlours (gelatarias) in Sorrento, offering every flavour imaginable. The perfect way to cool down after a day in the sun!

  6. head down to marina grande to sample the freshest sea food available

OK we know we’re talking a lot about food and drink but we are in Italy after all! Marina Grande is a small fishing village and is famous for it’s incredible sea food restaurants and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely worth heading down here even if sea food isn’t your thing as it’s such a pretty setting.

  7. take a boat trip to capri

This beautiful coastline of Italy has the absolute WOW factor and what better way to see the Amalfi Coast in all its beauty than on a private boat. The famous island of Capri, often otherwise referred to as ‘Millionaire’s Island’ is a must-see with its incredible array of boutique designer shops and 5 star luxury hotels. Whilst touring the Island look out for the yachts of the super famous and head for the beautiful Faraglioni Rocks where, upon sailing through, you must close your eyes and make a wish. The island is more expensive than Sorrento itself so if you are on a budget just enjoy one of the standard 8 hour tours instead of staying the night on the Island.

  8. have a day at the beach

Due to the fact that Sorrento is built into the cliff, its beaches are actually decks that are built out into the sea. However these fun beach clubs offer the opportunity of waiter service, lunch on site and clean bathrooms. There’s a charge to use the lounge chairs, sunbeds and umbrellas at these private beach clubs and the cost can be anywhere from €10-25 depending on location and amenities.

  9. drink a cocktail at the sky bar of hotel mediterraneo

The Vista Sky Bar at Hotel Mediterraneo offers 360 degree views over the sea and the town of Sorrento. With an impressive list of cocktails and organised events happening frequently that are open to the public with live music, this is a classy experience not to be missed!

  10. experience an authentic italian food tour or cooking class

Gourmet Girls offer a variety of wonderful food tours in Sorrento giving you the opportunity to experience authentic cuisine from the region. This means you can try foods that you probably didn’t know existed and is great for gourmet seekers looking to enjoy the region’s best foods and wines. If you’re looking for something more ‘hands-on’ try one of the local cooking classes and learn how to make the famous gnocchi, fresh pasta or the delicious Tiramisu.
