Destination Weddings in Sorrento & the Amalfi Coast 2021

New Year wishes 2021

To friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances, clients and anyone who takes the time to read the Sophisticated Weddings Italy blog, I just wanted to wish you ALL a happy new year 2021. I can’t decide if 2020 went quickly, slowly or somewhere in the middle… some of it certainly seems a blur to me as we figured out our ways of moving forward… but nonetheless I think we are all relieved to be moving out of 2020 and into 2021.

As I’m writing, I am mindful that there is still a lot that needs to be done in the coming months to move us away from the lockdowns, tiers, colour zones, travel restrictions etc. Despite the wonderful news that not just one, but several, vaccines have been found and are being rolled out all over the world, things take time and we all still need to be patient and remain cautious.

Whilst we are very hopeful and optimistic that our season will go ahead as planned, we understand that there is still going to be some anxiety surrounding travel, guest numbers and what restrictions there may be surrounding weddings and events moving forward.

Our advice, at the moment, is as follows:

Stay calm and communicate

Rather than imagining how things are going to be in the coming months we must remember that even the most educated guess is still as guess and that the situation is rapidly changing and improving. So keep calm and let’s chat through your thoughts, feelings and look at what options we have to make you feel more at ease.

Be selective with your news channels

From one day to the next we are reading positive headlines followed by negative headlines… it’s no wonder we are left wondering if we’re being optimistic or pessimistic. Try and use the more reliable, tempered and rational news sites for your information. If you can take a break do so, but if not always aim to source your news from places that give accurate, reliable and non-alarmist information.

Think positively

Consider that at the height of the pandemic in 2020 there were still a number of destination weddings that were held here in Italy 2020, some with reasonably large guest numbers. Therefore with the times ahead of mass testing and vaccination roll out, things can only be better than before. We are all here to do everything we can to ensure your most special day is exactly that!

Remember if the plan doesn’t work, change the plan – but never the goal.
